Palace with Strong Capital Aura in Kaunas RE Lease Market

2017-04-11

April 11, 2017. Kaunas. “Inreal” won the tender announced by the Bank of Lithuania on the lease services of the Palace owned by the Bank of Lithuania, located at Maironio Str. 25, Kaunas. The contract has been made for two years – the term for “Inreal” to lease a share of the administrative premises. Areas for lease are from 1,000 to 2,850 sq. m. (total area of the building is almost 6 thou. sq. m.). The Bank of Lithuania will continue to work in the rest of the building.

The history of the palace, which will be 89 years old in September this year, is unique by the fact that its intended use has not been changed from the very beginning – it was always used by banks.

“We are entrusted an interesting as well as uneasy task – to lease the building with such a strong identity to new users. We have no doubts that we will find lessees, who understand the added-values provided by such a unique office in this “money-attracting” building. And what can be said about a perfect location of the palace in the centre of the temporary capital”, – stated Gediminas Dranginis, Head of “Inreal” Brokerage Department Kaunas Division.

The palace of the Bank of Lithuania at the intersection of Maironio and K. Donelaičio streets in Kaunas is one of the most luxurious and beautiful buildings not only in the temporary capital, but also in the whole country. The palace was opened in late 1928 and consecrated by Prelate Jonas Mačiulis-Maironis. In 2003, the building was announced a cultural monument. The palace contains 137 movable cultural valuables and 33 antiques. Bank walls are adorned with 20 valuable pictures by the outstanding Lithuanian artists of the time, such as Antanas Žmuidzinavičius, Petras Kalpokas, Justinas Vienožinskis, Jonas Mackevičius, etc. An old elevator, manufactured by one of the famous USA companies OTIS (USA) in 1936, is still in use. The main lobby is decorated with black marble columns and impressive cut-glass chandeliers. The gallery on the first floor is fenced by a railing of white marble. The ceilings are decorated with frescoes of historical and mythological nature.
